More than 50 jobs would be axed by Barwon Health due to a federal-state funding impasse, the Victorian State Health Minister has argued. Jill Hennessy has claimed Geelong’s public health provider would be hit with a $3.47 million cut to its budget and force job losses while Colac’s hospital would also be placed under financial strain. The state-federal dispute is heading to the High Court with the Federal Government accusing Ms Hennessy of “cooking the books” over Victoria’s entitlement to Canberra cash.
