The Federal Government will seek independent scrutiny of its bid for new powers to disclose veterans’ personal information, should they wish to correct deliberately misleading statements. The compromise comes after it was revealed the Government wanted legal authority to release personal details, which drew intense criticism from lawyers and sections of the veteran community.
