A 41-year-old Spalding man has been charged after he allegedly attacked a female staff member with a knife at a church-operated crisis accommodation centre in Geraldton yesterday. Police said the attack happened about 3.30pm after the woman asked the man to leave Sun City Christian Centre’s supported accommodation centre in Assen Street, Karloo. She was treated at Geraldton Hospital and received stitches for a small cut to her face. The man was arrested at the scene and charged with acts or omissions causing bodily harm. He will appear in Geraldton Magistrate’s Court today.

Parts of the ACT Health building has been evacuated after a small fire. Emergency services were called to the Moore Street building in Civic just after 10am. When they arrived they commenced a search for the source of smoke. ACT Fire & Rescue quickly extinguished a small fire that was caused by a light fitting on the second floor. No injuries have been reported.
