The woman charged with kidnapping a 97-year-old resident from a Melbourne nursing home in the belief the elderly woman was her mother will undergo psychiatric treatment in prison, a court has heard. Irene Moschones, 51, is accused of pushing Dimitra Pavlopoulou in her wheelchair out of her Clarinda nursing home in Melbourne’s south-east around midday last Saturday and taking her to a home in Cheltenham.

A nurse has been seriously injured in a hit-and-run outside Sunshine Hospital, in Melbourne’s west, police have said. The 29-year-old woman had just finished a shift and was crossing Furlong Road about 10:00pm, when a dark-coloured ute allegedly went through a red light at a pedestrian crossing. It did not slow down after hitting the woman, police said.

A woman has been charged with murder over the 2015 death of a toddler who was in her care. The woman was refused bail. She will appear in Dubbo Local Court today.

Police have appealed to the public to help locate a missing 67-year-old woman from Summer Hill. Kathleen Lawrence who resides at an aged care facility in Summer Hill was last seen on Thursday January 4 at around 7.15pm. Police have serious concerns for her welfare due to her medical conditions and the extreme heat.
