A man caught on film allegedly indecently touching two girls as they practiced gymnastics in a park claimed he was teaching them how to stretch. Stuart Bugeja is on trial in Perth District Court accused of touching two girls, aged 11 and 12, at a park in Baldivis during January 2017 school holidays. Mr Bugeja’s lawyer claimed his client had served nine years with the Australian Army and during his service had become a fitness fanatic. He said Mr Bugeja had no criminal history and had previously worked in aged care, and had studied to be a paramedic and nurse.

Another Health Department client deemed unfit to plead to a serious crime is on the run after absconding from his supported accommodation. The man has been missing for six weeks, but the incident is only being made public today. The man failed to return to his accommodation in early December and has been on the run ever since. The nature of the crime he was deemed unfit to plead to is as yet unknown.
