A s.418 (Industrial action) application from National Patient Transport Pty Ltd T/A National Patient transport against both United Voice and the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation has been granted by Fair Work Commissioner Wilson in Melbourne on 12 April 2018. The Fair Work Commission has ordered that “industrial action must stop, not occur and not be organised.”

A senior doctor at Brisbane’s Prince Charles Hospital has been stood down over allegations of misconduct. Director of cardiology Professor Darren Walters was taken off his duties asthe hospital investigates claims of misappropriation in his department. The Crime and Corroption Commission also received a complaint, The Courier-Mail reports. A Metro North Hospital and Health Service spokesperson confirmed on Saturday that an investigation is under way but said “due to privacy and confidentiality reasons, we cannot comment on matters relating to individual employees”.

A Sydney woman has been charged with 24 counts of stealing from elderly people in car parks. Police say personal items, including handbags and cash, were stolen from a number of elderly men and women at car parks in Riverwood between November 2017 and April 2018. On Friday afternoon, the woman struck again, this time approaching a 78-year-old woman in a car park on Riverwood Street. She then snatched the woman’s handbag, which contained more than $2000, and fled. The 42-year-old was arrested a short distance away for not obeying crossing instructions. After investigations, she was charged with 24 counts of theft and not stopping at stop line at red arrow.
