All three levels of a Brisbane nursing home have been quarantined after a serious gastroenteritis outbreak. Casa Dámore, next to The Village retirement complex at Park St, Coorparoo has been in lockdown for five days after the first signs of the illness appeared on Saturday. The 100 residents in the complex have been confined to their rooms and visitors have been restricted as the centre struggles to deal with the outbreak. In an email to families owners Vacenti said as soon as staff became aware of the outbreak, the centre initiated an outbreak management plan in line with Queensland Health guidelines.

A Shepparton man appeared before Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with burglary at a property on Wyndham St. The man had been remanded in police custody since his arrest the previous evening. Further charges were filed, including trespass at the Goulburn Valley Hospice Care on the day of the arrest and the theft of a pair of Logitech headphones from Goulburn Valley Hospice Care valued at $30. Another charge of committing an indictable offence while on bail was also heard. Magistrate John Murphy remanded the man in custody and to reappear in court.
