Rural City of Murray Bridge General Manager for Sustainable Communities Andrew Meddle has been appointed as the new City of Mount Gambier CEO. He began in his current position as General Manager Sustainable Communities at Murray Bridge in January 2013. In this role he is responsible for delivering the Council’s community services (including the regional art gallery, theatre and library), development and regulation services and for Lerwin, the Council’s 75 bed residential aged care facility.

Group CEO Enrich Health Group & CEO Enrich Living Services, Norbert Walther (pictured top), is stepping down from his role after 2 ½ years.

An elderly woman has suffered an arm injury after she was allegedly pushed by an intruder inside her unit in an Earlville retirement village. It is alleged the 20-year-old Earlville man forced his way into three units at the Ishmael Rd facility last Friday night. He also allegedly tried to get into two other units. He allegedly confronted several of the elderly residents and requested money. The man is due to appear in the Cairns Magistrates Court later this morning.

A 75-year-old man accused of murdering a 70-year-old woman at a Kāpiti retirement village will remain unnamed for now. The man, who has interim name suppression, was excused from appearing in the High Court at Wellington this morning, Justice David Collins said. He is charged with murdering Edith Roderique between March 4 and 5. Discussions in court today could not be published, but Justice Collins said the matter would be adjourned “for the court to obtain further reports as to how the case will be progressed later this year”. He adjourned the case to a tentative date in May. Police were called to a unit at Coastal Villas retirement village earlier this month, where they found Roderique dead. A spokeswoman for the village confirmed there had been a “serious incident” and that police were investigating.

A s.604 (Appeal of decisions) by Inna Grabovsky citing the United Protestant Association NSW Ltd has been rejected by the Fair Work Commission FUll Bench (Deputy President Gostencnik, Deputy President Colman and Deputy President Saunders) in Melbourne on 26 March 2019. The case summary reads: “Appeal from decision of Commissioner Johns at Melbourne on 5 December 2018 – s 587 – no reasonable prospect of success – question of res judicata – costs – permission to appeal refused.”

A s.185 (Enterprise agreement) application from Estia Investments Pty Ltd for its Estia Health SA Nurses Enterprise Agreement 2018 has been agreed by Fair Work Commissioner Harper-Greenwell sitting in Melbourne on 25 March 2019.

The body of a pregnant Gold Coast nurse has been found dumped in a canal in India a week after she was kidnapped while visiting her parents, Indian police say. Ravneet Kaur, 29, had been working as a registered nurse at Tricare on the Gold Coast, before jetting off to India on February 25 on an extended holiday to visit family and friends with her four-year-old daughter. At four months pregnant Ms Kaur had travelled to Bagge Ke Pipal village, when on March 14, she stepped outside her parents’ home to take a video call from her husband, Jaspeet Singh, back in Australia. She was snatched off the streets about 11.30am local time and was never seen alive again. It is understood Ms Kaur was supposed to fly home to Australia on March 22.
