An application for approval of The Australian Unity Independent & Assisted Living Victorian Traditional Model Enterprise Agreement 2018 (s.185 – Application for approval of a single-enterprise agreement) will be the preserve of Fair Work Deputy President Gostencnik in chambers in Melbourne.

A s.185 (Enterprise agreement) application by Specialist Diagnostic Services Pty Ltd T/A Dorevitch Pathology for the Specialist Diagnostic Services Pty Ltd Trading as Dorevitch Pathology Scientists and Technicians Enterprise Agreement 2019-2020 has been granted by Fair Work Commissioner Gregory sitting in Melbourne on 5 July 2019.

A Benowa nursing home resident hospitalised with gastroenteritis symptoms died while a Tweed aged care facility restricted public access after a suspected outbreak of the illness. An 85-year-old palliative care patient died as the viral outbreak continued to spread at the Lady Small Haven nursing home and hostel, which had been quarantined since the previous Saturday. The number of affected Lady Small Haven residents grew to 45 – 29 in the nursing home and 16 at the hostel – although more than half were no longer showing symptoms. A Churches of Christ Care statement said three residents were still in hospital as a precautionary measure.

A s.394 (Unfair dismissal) application by Wendy Dayle against Cater Care Australia has been rejected by Fair Work Vice President Catanzariti in Darwin, on 18 July 2019 on a technicality.

An application for termination of the Snowy Mountains Care & Early Learning Centre Inc Teachers’ Early Childhood Services Agreement 2014 (s.225 – Application for termination of an enterprise agreement after its nominal expiry date) will be decided by Deputy President Boyce in Chambers in Sydney.

A s.365 (General protections) order sought by Hough Lara against Uniting NSW ACT has been rejected by Fair Work Deputy President Lake in Brisbane, on 19 July 2019.

A chiropractor in Sydney’s CBD has been accused of sexually assaulting and touching a patient several times during treatment. The 44-year-old man has been charged with five counts of sexual assault and 11 sexual touching offences after the 31-year-old woman reported the alleged assaults to police. The assaults happened while the woman was treated at the man’s clinic in York Street, Sydney between January and April this year, NSW Police said in a statement. The man has been refused bail to appear at Central Local Court on Friday.
