Parts of south-east Queensland have received more than 200 millimetres of rain overnight, leading to flash flooding, swift water rescues and the evacuation of a nursing home as other areas keep a close watch on rising and already flooded waterways. Flooding saw residents of a Mount Coolum aged care home evacuated, a Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spokeswoman said.

Police are appealing for public assistance to help locate missing man James Smith. The 75-year-old was last seen at his aged care facility in Grey Street St Kilda on Wednesday 12 February about 7pm. Police and James’ carers have concerns for his welfare as he has dementia, requires daily medication that he does not have with him and if not taken increases the risks of his serious health concerns.
