A s.365 (General protections) order sought by Maria Esguerra against Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (Q) T/A UnitingCare Queensland has been rejected by Fair Work Deputy President Young in Melbourne on 14 April 2020.

The employee who infected several staff and residents at a Sydney nursing home with coronavirus displayed only mild symptoms and is now “distraught and mortified”, NSW Health bosses say. So far, 11 people at the Newmarch House aged-care facility in Caddens have been infected with the virus, after a woman completed six shifts despite having mild symptoms of the virus. NSW’s chief health officer Dr Kerry Chant said the staff member was “distraught” about the infections. “I have spoken to the director of the public health unit and this person is absolutely mortified,” she said. “So, I think I would urge people to remember that the symptoms of COVID can be incredibly mild and the key point is do not go to work. Six staff members and five residents have been infected with the virus since the infected staff member worked at the facility.

An intensive care nurse at the Royal Adelaide Hospital (RAH) who has worked on coronavirus patients has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing 22 other medical staff into isolation. SA Health said the nurse who is aged in her 20s is in isolation at home while she recovers from the virus. She worked in the hospital’s intensive care unit (ICU) and became mildly symptomatic late on Friday.

A Western Sydney aged-care home is in lockdown after a staff member who tested positive to coronavirus worked six shifts while showing symptoms of the deadly bug. The female staff member worked shifts at the Anglicare Newmarch House in Caddens, and Greystanes Disability Services in Leura while infected. On Saturday, the woman tested positive to COVID-19, leaving health authorities scrambling to identify her close contacts at the Caddens facility, where one resident has subsequently returned a positive swab for the virus. NSW Health says it is waiting for test results from a second ill resident at the aged-care home.

NSW Health says 10 people at a Western Sydney aged care home have tested positive to COVID-19 in the wake of a staff member working six shifts there despite having symptoms of the virus. Residents at the Anglicare Newmarch House in Caddens, near Penrith, were placed in lockdown on Saturday after the female worker tested positive. Health authorities said she worked six days there and another two days at the Greystanes Disability Services in Penrith while infected. Six staff, including the woman, have now tested positive along with four residents. In a statement, Anglicare Sydney said all residents in its Caddens facility were self-isolating in its rooms and it had deployed staff specially trained in working with COVID-19 to work residents who had tested positive. It said all other staff had been directed to wear full personal protective equipment when caring for residents. The Penrith Greystanes Disability Service also quarantined residents in the house she worked and placed several of its staff in home isolation.
