The Uniting Church in Australia Property Trust (Q) T/A Uniting Care Health has screwed up its s.185 application for approval of a single-enterprise agreement. Fair Work Commissioner Cambridge in Sydney ruled it had not been made in accordance with the Act and dismissed the application.

Former federal MP Craig Thomson will learn if he is to face more penalties for his use of Health Services Union funds when the Federal Court rules on a lawsuit brought by the workplace relations tribunal. The Fair Work Commission is suing Thomson for alleged misuse of HSU funds while he was the national secretary from 2002 to 2007.

Former unionist Kathy Jackson is attempted to appeal a court judgment that found she had siphoned about $1.4 million from the Health Services Union. The Federal Court in Melbourne last month found Ms Jackson guilty of misusing her position as secretary of the union to fraudulently gain financial advantage. But Ms Jackson this week filed a notice of appeal, claiming Justice Richard Tracey denied procedural fairness by dismissing her cross-claim and her abuse-of-process application.

A nurse who snooped on patients’ medical records has been censured. Elizabeth Raju was sacked in 2014 after an audit revealed the confidentiality breaches. She has been ordered to pay $26,400 toward the costs of the four-day tribunal hearing.
