Former Labor MP Craig Thomson has ignored a judge’s orders to pay nearly half a million dollars in fines, compensation and interest for misusing union funds, opening the way for further court action against him. The Health Services Union yesterday warned that it was considering further legal proceedings against Thomson, who had not contacted the union or the Federal Court since a February deadline for payment of his penalties expired. He now faces a higher fine and the prospect of a public examination of his financial position.
