The removal of enrolled nurses from two Adelaide residential aged care homes could put patients’ lives at risk, the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) says. ANMF South Australian branch chief executive officer Elizabeth Dabars said aged care provider Allity had sacked about 30 enrolled nurses from its Morphettville and Walkerville sites.

The Fair Work Commission has ratified the Cobden District Health Service Inc., ANMF and HSU Enterprise Agreement 2014.

Prosecutors are set to drop more than 340 charges against a public servant who allegedly stole $35,000 on a government credit card, in exchange for a guilty plea to a single charge. Mignon Thomas is charged with 233 counts of theft and 114 counts of dishonestly dealing with documents. Thomas, 48, was employed as a youth worker when she allegedly used the credit card to spend more than $35,000 on items including groceries, clothes and other luxury items.

Sunnyfield Disability Services is on the receiving end of a s.739 (Application to deal with a dispute) delivered at the behest of a staff member (Aldrigde). Fair Work Commissioner McKenna will decide the merit of the application.

Leading Age Services Australia has appointed Sean Rooney, a former CEO of the Australian Medicare Local Alliance (AMLA), as its new chief executive officer. He takes over from Patrick Reid, who has been CEO of LASA for the past three years.
