Eye care business Alcon ANZ has appointed Penny Stewart, from Abbott Medical ANZ, as Cluster Franchise Head, Surgical and Country Manager Australia and New Zealand. Stewart commenced her role at Alcon on 24 October 2022. Stewart joins Alcon ANZ following the appointment of Karen Fowler to Head of Commercial Operations and Strategic Projects, Alcon APAC Surgical. Stewart, who has over 25 years’ experience in roles with medical device companies such as Abbott, Phillips, Becton Dickinson, Roche Diagnostics and Bio-Rad Laboratories, previously held the role of general manager for Abbott’s Structural Heart franchise.

The resignation of Dr Janice Wilson as Chief Executive of the Health Quality & Safety Commission (the Commission) was announced today by Commission Board Chair Dr Dale Bramley. Dr Wilson has led the Commission since its inception in 2010.

Ambulance Victoria CEO Tony Walker has informed staff of his early departure. Ambulance Victoria has now revelaed who will replace CEO Tony Walker in the wake of his shock departure. Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre chief executive, Professor Shelley Dolan, will lead Ambulance Victoria from November 9 after Mr Walker made the call to finish up as chief executive two months earlier than planned. Prior to joining Peter Mac, Prof. Dolan was acting chief executive and chief nurse at one of the largest hospitals in Europe and has more than 25 years of leadership experience in large-scale hospital management.
