Disgraced Aboriginal leader Geoff Clark’s taxpayer funded indigenous empire has until the end of the month to respond to allegations shares were improperly transferred from his grandmother’s estate. Victorian Aboriginal Affairs Minister Natalie Hutchins has demanded the Framlingham Aboriginal Trust explain the share transfer by March 31 and could send administrators in. The trust must also answer allegations its most recent annual meeting wasn’t held within the required timeframe.

An investigation into a high-dependency South Australian Government nursing home has been launched, in the wake of allegations about the mistreatment of elderly residents. The Makk and McLeay Nursing Home at Oakden has been under scrutiny after the family of former patient Bob Spriggs complained last year about his over medication and unexplained bruises — thought to have been caused by the use of restraint. A Federal Health Department spokesperson said the Commonwealth Aged Care Quality Agency had today launched a full audit of the home.

An abandoned aged care home located next door to a fire station in Canberra’s north has been destroyed in a blaze. The two-storey building, next door to Belconnen Fire Station, was well alight when crews arrived shortly after 10:30pm on Tuesday. Acting head of ACT Fire and Rescue Phil Canham said the building used to be an aged care home.
