A s.185 (Enterprise agreement) sought by the Royal Flying Doctor Service (South Eastern Section) for its Royal Flying Doctor Service of Australia (South Eastern Section) Medical Practitioners Enterprise Agreement 2017 has been approved by Commissioner Lee in Melbourne on 15 June 2017.

Federal Parliament last week agreed to establish the position of Rural Health Commissioner to champion improved health policies for regional and remote areas. In the wake of the murder of Outback nurse Gayle Woodford, the SA Government last week announced it would pass “Gayle’s Law”, requiring rural health professionals to be accompanied by a colleague or escort to patient call-outs.

Elderly residents of a Morrinsville retirement village have been the latest victims of a group of offenders who seem intent on leaving a trail of destruction behind them. Public outcry on social media about a recent spate of crime in Morrinsville has done little to deter the offenders who in the most recent incident, slashed the tyres of five cars and one tyre of a mobility scooter at St Matthew’s retirement village. The tyres were so badly damaged, each of the 21 will have to be replaced.

Investigations have been launched into allegations of misconduct involving several staff members at a Beechworth mental health service. The claims surfaced at Blackwood Cottage this week and Albury Wodonga Health stood down several staff members. Chief executive Leigh McJames assured the family members of the 15 residents there were no safety fears.
