Apollo Bay locals want to see the Otway Health chief executive and board replaced with an independent administrator, saying the town’s shortage of overnight GPs has tarnished their confidence in the healthcare provider. More than 140 residents gathered for an emergency public meeting this week to address the void left by the retirement of the town’s on-call GP, Mani Kutti, earlier this month. In a vote of 128 to nine, attendees resolved the Apollo Bay community had “lost confidence in the capacity of the CEO and the board of Otway Health to provide vital quality health services to the community”. They urged the State Government to replace the board with “a suitably qualified administrator with detailed knowledge of the local community, for two years, in order to restore the health services which the community requires”.
