A Perth great-grandmother says if she was given her chance again with a man who broke into her house and assaulted her she would “punch his lights out”. The man broke into the woman’s home in a retirement village on Forrest Way in Greenfields about 3.30am on Wednesday, armed with a knife and with his face covered. The woman, who asked only to be known as Bev, said the man had tried a number of ways to break in before he stole a knife from her garden shed and jimmied the lock on the back door. The 80-year-old said she had initially been woken by her dogs barking outside. The man stole her mobile phone and jewellery before fleeing. When asked what she would say to the man given her time again, Bev said: “I don’t think I’d say anything, I think I’d punch his lights out.” “I don’t think it’s fair, I don’t think it’s right that they pick on retirement villages and a lot of people are pretty vulnerable,” she said. She suffered a minor injury to her thumb.
