A doctor accused of sexually assaulting a patient wants to leave the country ahead of his trial to visit his mother’s grave in Sri Lanka on the anniversary of her death. Priyantha Padmike Dayananda has pleaded not guilty to sexually penetrating a woman who was in his care at Bunbury Health Campus in Western Australia late last year. He faced Bunbury Magistrates court today. The WA Country Health Service (WACHS) had suspended the medical practitioner in the wake of the allegations. WACHS chief executive Jeffrey Moffet said the alleged behaviour was unacceptable and not reflective of the high standards at WA hospitals.
