A “disproportionately high” number of complaints have been made against South Australian nurses, and half of the nation’s mandatory notifications about nurses’ behaviour were made against those registered in SA. Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency figures show thatwhile there were 30,797 nurses and midwives registered in SA, “the 187 notifications received about nurses — 18 per cent of the national total — are disproportionate to the number of nurses with a principal place of practice of SA”.
