A 35-year-old man has been charged over “disgraceful” assaults on an elderly man at an aged care facility on Sydney’s northern beaches. Police allege a male employee at an aged care facility on Sydney Road in Seaforth entered the room of a patient on a number of occasions, allegedly assaulting an 82-year-old man. The incidents are alleged to have occurred between August 26 and August 29. Just before 2pm yesterday, Paudyal was arrested at a Wheeler Heights address and taken to Manly Police Station where he was charged with two counts of common assault and use of an offensive weapon with intent to commit an indictable offence. Elder abuse can take various forms such as physical, psychological, emotional or financial abuse, Superintendent David Darcy from Northern Beaches Police Area Command said. “These vulnerable people need the communities help to be their voice. The man was granted conditional bail and will appear at Manly Local Court on Tuesday, September 11.
