A man has been taken to hospital with minor burns to his hand after fire took hold at a nursing home in Pakenham overnight, forcing 35 residents to be evacuated. The fire started on the second floor of the Millhaven Lodge, formerly Pakenham Aged Care, located on the Princes Hwy just before 11pm. Eight Country Fire Authority trucks attended the blaze and it was brought under control within half an hour. A CFA representative said the damage to the building was minor. The affected residents have been relocated back into another area of the retirement village.
