A young driver who caused the death of a much-loved nurse in a crash in Melbourne’s southeast has been jailed for 11 years. Sebastian Kennett, 21, was high on ice and driving a stolen vehicle when he collided with a car driven by 53-year-old cardiac nurse Lynda Hansen in October 2017. Ms Hansen, who was on her way home from dinner with a friend, died at the scene after suffering chest injuries. Kennett, who suffered minor bruising, fled and was arrested two days later following a police manhunt. County Court Judge Frank Gucciardo on Monday sentenced Kennett to 11 years and two months in prison. He must serve at least eight years’ jail before being eligible for parole.
