A police taskforce investigating embattled Victorian MP Cesar Melhem and former union boss Kathy Jackson has been given a $6 million boost by the federal government. Detectives from Taskforce Heracles continue to probe allegations of criminal conduct uncovered by the royal commission into trade union corruption, after the Commonwealth agreed to extend the joint taskforce until the end of the year. Ms Jackson, the former Health Services Union secretary, was referred for possible criminal charges for allegedly gaining property and financial advantage by deception.
