The South Australian Liberal Government has moved swiftly to replace the head of the state’s Health Department, confirming the rumoured appointment of West Australian Christopher McGowan. Premier Steven Marshall said Dr McGowan, the current chief executive of health provider Silver Chain, had long-standing experience in both the public and private health sector. “I’m delighted to welcome Dr McGowan to the important role of chief executive of SA Health, the largest Department in the State Government,” Mr Marshall said. He thanked the outgoing chief executive Vickie Kaminski, whose exit from the South Australian public service follows the sacking of four other senior chief executives at a cost of $2 million, including the head of the Premier’s Department Don Russell.
