An elderly cancer patient has been left covered in bruises after she was allegedly violently restrained and robbed of money by a nurse at a Sydney hospital. The 77-year-old woman was recovering from surgery at the Bella Vista hospital on March 16 when a worker is said to have gone into her room. Police allege the female employee rummaged through her belongings, taking two credit cards from her wallet. The nurse is accused of “physically restraining the woman” while demanding the PINs to the cards. The patient complied. “It is alleged the woman then withdrew money from the victim’s bank account at a nearby shopping centre,” police said in a statement on Tuesday. The cancer patient suffered deep tissue bruising to her arms, legs, neck and chest. The 45-year-old hospital worker was arrested on Tuesday and charged with aggravated robbery, knowingly dealing with the proceeds of crime, and dishonestly obtaining financial advantage. She was refused bail to appear at Blacktown Local Court later in the day.
