Student nurses have been urged to apply for a South Australian scholarship named in honour of Kirsty Boden, the “‘angel of London Bridge” who died last year in a terror attack. The state government will provide $100,000 to fund the scholarship for at least the next five years in what Premier Jay Weatherill says is a fitting tribute to Ms Boden. The 28-year-old was killed in June when she ran to help other victims run down and stabbed on London Bridge. The annual scholarship will provide $10,000 each to two third-year student nurses from regional SA studying at Flinders University, where Ms Boden earned her degree. The grants will be awarded on the basis of financial need and academic commitment with applications for this year closing on January 31.
