An Albany woman who reached speeds of 130km/h and was more than four times over the limit before she crashed into a retirement village, has been disqualified from driving for almost a year. Taryn Patricia Innes, 40, was fined $2200 and suspended from driving for 10 months after pleading guilty to reckless driving, driving under the influence of alcohol and endangering the life, health and safety of a person, in Albany Magistrates Court last Thursday. The court heard Innes reached 131km/h in a 50km/h zone on David Street and failed to stop at the intersection on Ulster Road, before crossing the road and crashing into a brick wall of the RAAFA Village at 10.20pm on September 23. The car smashed through the wall, courtyard and into the kitchen of the home of Lucy Winlow, but the 97-year-old and her husband luckily escaped injury. The crashed caused $74,600 damage. Innes later gave a blood alcohol reading of 0.212 per cent.
