Lawyers for the family of a pregnant indigenous woman who died after being sent home by hospital staff in the NSW Riverina are investigating racism allegations. The 27-year-old woman was six months pregnant and suffering from a severe headache when she presented to the emergency department at the Tumut Hospital in the state’s Riverina in January 2016 and was sent home. Twelve hours later she was dead.
