The former long-serving president of the workplace tribunal, Justice Geoffrey Giudice, has died aged 74. Mr Giudice was appointed president of the Australian Industrial Relations Commission by the Howard government in 1997 and resigned as president of the newly branded Fair Work Australia in 2012 after overseeing three major overhauls of workplace law, including WorkChoices and the Fair Work Act. Last year, he was diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour and in recent weeks was receiving palliative care at home.
