Two nurses were assaulted in Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital last night, allegedly by a visiting relative of a patient. Police say a 25-year-old man pushed one of them, causing her to fall. He then closed a door which allegedly struck another nurse. It happened about 9.30pm Monday night while the alleged was visiting a relative. The Osborne Park man was charged and will face court next month. Assaults on nurses are on the rise, with the McGowan Government launching a crackdown six months ago. It followed the stabbing of a nurse at Royal Perth Hospital in May.
